How do I Troubleshoot an Epson Stylus C88+ Printer?
- 1). Press and hold the power button on the Epson Stylus C88+ to print a test page. If the test page prints, you know the problem lies with the communication between the computer and the printer.
- 2). Log on to your computer and click the "Start" button. Choose "Control Panel" and double-click "Administrative Tools" and then "Services." Scroll down to "Print Spooler" and right-click to start the service. If the print spooler service is not active, the computer will not be able to communicate with the printer.
- 3). Remove and reseat both ends of the printer cable to re-establish communication. Make sure the print cable is secure in both the computer and printer. If the printer still does not respond, the cable might need to be replaced.
- 1). Remove all of the paper from the paper tray and fan the paper carefully. Remove any torn or crinkled sheets, and any pages that are sticking together. Over time, paper can retain moisture, and that moisture can cause the printer to grab more than one sheet at a time.
- 2). Place the paper in the printer and move it all the way against the right side of the tray. Slide the left paper guide over until it is tight against the paper.
- 3). Press the paper feed button to remove any jammed paper. The paper feed button has a picture of a piece of paper on it. If paper jams persist, try using a different brand of paper. Some types of paper feed better through the Stylus C88+ than others.
- 1). Open the top of the Epson Stylus C88+ printer and wait for the print heads to move to the middle. Carefully remove each print cartridge and turn it upside down so the metal connectors face you.
- 2). Dip a cotton swab in some warm water and carefully swab the entire surface of the print cartridge. Continue swabbing until all paper dust and ink residue are removed.
- 3). Place the print cartridges back in the printer and close the cover. Send a test page to the printer.
