How Authentic in Islam is the Taliban Movement! Part I
How authentic in Islam is the Taliban Movement!
The Taliban movement was
originally established to fight against the communist regime in Afghanistanheaded by the communist Najiballah. Najiballah has called upon the Soviet Union atheist regime of Karl Marx and Lenin for help. The Soviet Union interred Afghanistan in the year 1982 to give support to the Afghani communist regime and to establish and maintain the Marxist-Leninist ideology over Afghanistan, all Muslims by creed and belief.
The Afghanis called for a Jihad war, a holy war of Islam, against the atheist Soviet invaders and against its stooges and lackeys government of Najiballah in Kabul. A bloody war lasted until 1991 where the mujahedeen Taliban fighters conducted a fierce and bloody battle against their atheist foes of the Russians. Five hundred thousands of casualties dead among the Afghani people and 26000 Soviet soldiers died (officially 15000) and five millions of Afghanis fled the country.
Taliban, meaning students in
Arabic, and refers to students of Islamic theology, established in Qur'anic schools in the neighboring country Pakistan. The origin o the Taliban is the Jam'iyat ‘Ulama' al-Islam and the goals of this movement are to establish Islamic Shari'a and Islamic rule.
But the Islamic teachings
were administered by teachers of Islam who spread and taught ideas that are deviations from Islam and innovations on its actual precepts. Misinterpretations and misconceptionsof Islamic texts of the Qur'an and the Sunnah of prophet Muhammad were inculcated in the hearts and minds of the Taliban. Such teachings taught that only the Taliban really understand Islam and only them they can have correct and authentic interpretations of Islam and Islamic texts.
Contradictions to Islamic
precepts and principles were introduced in the minds of the ignorant Afghani and Pakistani, indeed many others, and new innovative precepts were forced to interpret Islam according to personal understandings of the initiators of the movement.
Such erroneous teachings of Islam
pretended the absolute necessity of growing beards relying on weak dictums of the Prophet in this respect while such teachings are totally absent in the Holy Qur'an.
Another false deviation from
Islamic principles is the mal-treatment of women and their restriction to the house only, not allowing them to share actively in public life of the Muslims, forbidding their education and their participation in the Muslim community. Women, according to such ill chauvinist deviations from the core of the Islamic religion, crippled half of the Muslim population in Afghanistan. Women, contrary to Islamic principles, are treated as secondary objects confined to the household of men.
This is in violation of
Islamic principles where men and women are on absolute equality and absolute level with that of Muslim men. The Qur'anic text makes no distinction between men and women, Muslim or otherwise.
Both men and women are on equal footing in Islam:
The only two exceptions to these rules are concerned with standing witness and inheritance. The Qur'anic text specifies that two witnessing women are equal to the testimony of one man unless there is only one woman whose witness is considered equal to that of one man. Inheritance the right of inheritance of one son equals two half's of two women, but if there is one woman who has the right to inherit then it is this woman who inherits the will.
Women in the Sunnah of the Prophet:
In the practice of the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad there are ample examples to be exemplified. His two wives Khadija and ‘Aisha are two perfect examples of Muslim women and their attitude. The first wife of Muhammad was the first person and woman to embrace Islam. Khadija was a business woman whom Muhammad worked for and for more than fifteen years administering her instructions.
Muhammad, and after receiving the divine call, has frequently
called on the opinion of Khadija who gave him financial assistance and moral support. His other wife ‘Aisha did not fully approve of some of Muhammad's actions and frequently expressed her thoughts to him.. After the death of Muhammad in 632 AD, delivered vehement public speeches. She urged Muslims at the epoch to go into war against the Deviationist Shia political dissension of Islam. She became the chief of the armed forces and headed the battle against the dissident Shia.
During the Medinan Epoch 622-632 Muslim women joined Muslim men in wars and walked behind men giving them moral support and encouragement by beating on the drums and performed functions and responsibilities of nursing the wounded and helping the needy.
The Taliban used the fervor
of the religious movement to declare Islam as the religion of the state of Afghanistan.
