How to Replace the Motherboard on a MacBook

    • 1). Power down the Macbook. Turn the device over. Take out the battery from the bay. This is done by the pressing of the two catches on the battery's side. Now pull up on the battery. Use the Phillips screwdriver to take out the screws on the bottom of the battery compartment. Remove the compartment.

    • 2). Flip the Macbook back to the right-side position. Take out the screws on the corners of the rear of the device. Now remove the remaining screws on the three sides of the Macbook. Lift the top of the computer up. The housing will now come off the computer.

    • 3). Raise the keyboard. Move it away from the computer's body. You will now see the motherboard. Disconnect the orange cord that connects the keyboard to the motherboard. Move the keyboard to one side. Take off the two wires that connect the side of the motherboard to the computer.

    • 4). Use the screwdriver to take off the yellow tape located on the motherboard. Detach the gold video cable from the motherboard. Utilize the screwdriver to take off the screws on the motherboard.

    • 5). Raise up the motherboard. Pull out the motherboard's power plug. Now replace the motherboard with the brand new unit.
