How to Add AUX into a Car Radio
- 1). Lift the hood of the vehicle to access the battery terminals. Remove the black covering (if applicable) over the negative battery terminal lead.
- 2). Place the adjustable wrench onto the bolt that secures the negative battery cable to the lead. Rotate the bolt counterclockwise to loosen the cable's clamp. Remove the battery cable from the battery terminal and set it away from the battery until the AUX input has been established. Move to the inside of the vehicle.
- 3). Remove the vehicle's factory stereo. Consult your vehicle repair manual for specific instructions. Disconnect the stereo wiring and antenna cable from the back of the stock deck.
- 4). Connect a wiring harness adapter to the vehicle's stereo wiring. The wiring connectors of the vehicle's stereo wires and the wiring harness adapter leads plug into each other only one way--you cannot connect them incorrectly.
- 5). Plug the wiring harness adapter leads into the back of the stereo.
- 6). Plug the FM modulator antenna cable into the antenna outlet on the back panel of the stereo. Plug the antenna cable from your vehicle into the input on the FM modulator.
- 7). Route the FM modulator input jack into the glove compartment adjacent to the stereo dock. Place the main component of the modulator in the back of the stereo dock (provided that there is space available in the rear of the dock. If not, stow the FM modulator in the glove compartment and run the connecting wires through the glove box interior side panel).
- 8). Replace the stereo into the dock as described in the vehicle's repair manual. Return to the battery.
- 9). Replace the battery cable onto the negative battery terminal post. Tighten the cable's clamp with an adjustable wrench. Replace the rubber covering over the terminal and close the vehicle's hood.
