How to Make Pony Tail Hair Accessories
- 1). Measure a rectangle, roughly 6 inches by 20 inches, from your scrap of fabric. Trim off any excess fabric using scissors.
- 2). With the wrong side of the fabric facing up, fold over a 1/4-inch seam on each of the long edges.
- 3). Fold the fabric in half so that the long, seamed edges meet, with the "wrong" -- i.e. not patterned -- side of the fabric facing outwards.
- 4). Sew the seamed edges together, by hand or machine. If you're new to sewing, you can use a simple running stitch, passing the needle through the fabric from one side to the other. Try to space your stitches as evenly as possible, but don't worry too much, nobody will see them!
- 5). Turn the tube of fabric inside out, so that the patterned side of the fabric is visible.
- 6). Glue or stitch the sequins on in a random pattern. Leave 1/2 inch at either end of the tube plain.
- 7). Cut a 9 inch length of the elastic. Attach the safety pin to one end.
- 8). Feed the elastic through the fabric tube, using the safety pin to help you. Sew the two ends of the elastic together. Make sure this is a firm join -- go back over the stitch a few times if necessary.
- 9). Fold one end of the fabric tube back on itself about 1/4 inch to form a hem.
- 10
Insert the other end of the fabric inside the hemmed end and stitch them together by hand, so that the elastic is covered.
