  The Chevrolet Silverado is available in light duty and heavy duty options. The stock exhaust pipes typically extended to the side of the vehicle, behind a rear wheel. Aftermarket exhaust systems may provide dual exhaust pipes or custom exhaust positioning. Exhaust tips are available as an aftermarket option on the Silverado and may increase the visual and sound presence of the exhaust.
  
  

Exhuast Tip Shapes

• Exhaust tips for the Silverado are available in round, oval, beveled edge, angled, rectangular, square and Chevrolet logo shapes. If the tip is beveled or flared, the sound of the exhaust will be amplified. Dual outlet tips are available with a single exhaust entry and two exhaust outlets. Due to the height of the Silverado, compared to passenger cars, and the resulting visibility of the exhaust, larger exhaust tips known as large/truck tips will provide proportional visibility.
  
  

Steel or Chrome Options

• Exhaust tips are primarily available in the color silver. The silver coloration is due to the material used. Stainless steel and chrome are the two most popular options. Stainless steel is more expensive, but can last up to five times longer due to the corrosion resistance of the metal. Stainless steel also requires less polishing and maintenance to maintain the shine.
  
  

Tip Resonation

• Exhaust tips available as resonated tips are designed to reduce or dampen sound with a fiberglass or sound absorbing lining. Exhaust tips without sound dampening are considered non-resonated.
  
  

Customized Exhaust Tips

• Depending on the expected placement of the exhaust output -- before rear wheel, after wheel side extensions, rear extensions, or other -- exhaust tips are available to increase the visual appeal of the exhaust system. Custom tips may be fabricated based on requests, or are available directly from manufacturers for installation. Clamp on tips also are available to allow installation without welding equipment.
