How to Wire Wrap Step by Step

8

    Wrapped Side-Drilled Bead

    • 1). Cut a 4-inch length of jewelry wire with the wire cutters.

    • 2). Insert the wire through the hole of the bead and push the bead to the center point of the wire.

    • 3). Bend both ends of the jewelry wire straight up and cross them over the dangling bead.

    • 4). Grasp one end of the jewelry wire (either end) with a chain nose pliers and begin wrapping it tightly around the other pointed-up side of the jewelry wire just above the top of the bead.

    • 5). Grasp the other end of the jewelry wire extending straight up from the bead with one pair of chain nose pliers, approximately 3/8-inch above the point where you wrapped the wire. Bend this around the tip of the pliers to create a loop and pull the end of the wire down to the wrapped wire.

    • 6). Grasp the loop with one chain nose pliers and grasp the end of the wire with the other chain nose pliers.

    • 7). Wrap the excess wire from the loop around the original wire wrap two to three times.

    • 8). Cut off the excess wire with the wire cutters. You now have a pendant you can attach to a necklace or earrings.

    Wire Wrap Loops

    • 1). Cut a 3-inch length of jewelry wire with the wire cutters.

    • 2). Bend one side of the wire into a 90-degree angle approximately 1.5 inches away from the end of the wire.

    • 3). Grasp the wire tightly with the chain nose pliers 1/4-inch away from the wire bend (after the bend).

    • 4). Roll the pliers toward the bend in the wire, still grasping the wire tightly, until you make a circular loop in the wire that stops at the point you bent the wire. This will create a loop in the wire.

    • 5). Grasp the loop with one chain nose pliers and grasp the end of the wire with the other chain nose pliers.

    • 6). Pull the end of the wire tightly around the base of the loop, wrapping it snugly two to three times. Cut off any excess wire with the wire cutters.

    • 7). Add a bead to the straight end of the wire, pushing it down until it sits snugly against the wrapped wire.

    • 8). Create another wrapped wire loop on the other end of the wire. You now have a bead link that you can add to a necklace or bracelet.
