Dog Leather Training Leads - The Right Choice for Training Your Dog

16
Dogs are trained to do a lot of things, from potty training, to sitting and staying, all the way to sniffing out bombs in airports; and when training a dog, leather training leads work best, and you'll see why soon, sure they're a little more expensive, but you get what you pay for.
Remember the old saying, poor folks can't afford to buy cheap things.
What's the reasoning behind this saying? Well, if you buy something cheap it's going to fall apart on you and you'll have to go out and buy another one and have to pay double, so don't waste your money on cheap.
There are many choices that we have when selecting a lead, with many different price points too, however we believe that going with a leather lead is your best choice, because it will last, it's also comfortable for your dog, and good for proper training.
You could go with nylon, but at worst it will break, and at best it will the burn the heck out of your hand when your dog starts to pull in one direction and runs off.
A chain link dog collar is just out right dangerous, especially in the wrong hands, we cannot recommend this material, it may look cool but it's not a good choice.
We're aiming for safety and stability, for our dogs and ourselves, and a leather (or even suede) lead fits the bill on every count.
In general, a smaller canine will need a smaller lead, a good starting point would be around 6 feet.
If your dog is larger, they may need some room to roam; only please take into account your dog's temperament and smarts because the last thing you need is your dog taking off and the leash being just a little too long, that could end up with the dog in the street.
Some bigger dogs can use a leash of around 20 feet, but use solid judgment if you go this long.
For specific training of say police dogs or bird dogs, folks will need other special equipment beyond a simple lead, in order to train these animals properly; however a leather lead should still be part of the overall plan.
Police dogs may require a shock collar or shock cord because they are so aggressive, bird dogs, on the other hand need a check cord, which is a very long cord for training these dogs to assist in the hunt properly.
While you may not need any of these specialized accouterments, for most everyone that owns a dog leather training leads are a perfect choice, as they will allow the dog comfort, they will last, and they will allow the dog to be trained properly.
