How to Build Discounted Deer Feeders

36
    • 1). Set your empty bucket on a flat surface and measure up 10 inches from the bottom, trimming the top of the bucket away with your saw. A 10-inch-deep feeder allows the deer plenty of room to eat comfortably, while keeping smaller animals from invading your feeder.

    • 2). Turn your bucket over and drill six small holes in the bottom of your bucket. The holes allow moisture to drain from the feeder and help keep your feed dry and free from mold.

    • 3). Cut two small slits in the bottom of your PVC pipe. The slits should be approximately ½" wide and 4" long. These slits allow the feed from the pipe to be dispensed at a steady pace as the deer eat.

    • 4). Place the pipe in the bucket with the slit end resting against the bottom. Cut two small holes in the bucket on each side of the pipe and secure the pipe to the base with a zip tie. Pull the tie tightly to prevent the pole from moving as the deer feed.

    • 5). Move your feeder to an appropriate tree. The tree should be in a quiet, low-traffic area to draw in the most deer. Attach the feeder to the tree by placing three zip ties around the tube and the tree, tightening the ties to secure the feeder.

    • 6). Fill the feeder by pouring deer feed into the top of the tube and cover it with a PVC end cap to keep the feed dry. The feeder will refill as the deer eat and will keep them coming back with the promise of a steady supply of feed.
