How to Arrange Snow Goose Decoys for the Spring Season
- 1). Find a huge body of water that lies next to a relatively open land. Trees may block your line of sight and prevent you from efficiently hunting your prey. Open lands make geese feel much safer since they can easily spot the predators that are coming their way.
- 2). Arrange the snow goose decoys at the edge of the waters. Group the decoys close together, forming a rough circular formation in order to simulate the picture of a family at rest. Other decoys may be feeding models while some can be observing or erect models. Some guides use 2,000 or even more decoys, but if you are not going with a specific guide, 300 to 400 decoys will do the trick.
- 3). Use a teardrop shape when arranging your snow goose decoys in case the first pattern is not effective enough. Place the large one at one end, and position the small ones at the other end with your blind at the center.
