• If your dog is bitten or attacked, you should first do research into your state or local laws on how this may be addressed. Check to see if your local jurisdiction has a so-called "dangerous dog law" that will may allow you to sue for costs, such as vet bills, if your dog was injured and required care. This law is specific to animal violations and is separate from other options for lawsuits, such as those in small claims court.
