How to Attach Wood Trim
- 1). Measure outward from one corner along the wall, at the floor, using a measuring tape. Mark the measurement on a piece of wood trim, using a pencil.
- 2). Place the trim on a miter saw in the way it will go on the wall. Line up the mark from the first corner with the blade.
- 3). Turn the miter blade to 45 degrees, so it points in toward the piece of trim. Cut the trim. Put the other mark (at the other end of the trim) under the blade. Turn the miter blade to 45 degrees in the opposite direction, again pointing toward the trim. Cut it.
- 4). Repeat the process for the piece of trim coming off the other side of the corner, so you have two pieces of trim that fit along two adjacent walls and fit together at the corner.
- 5). Hold both pieces of trim to the wall, with the mitered ends butting in the corner. Shoot nails along the top and bottom edges of each board with a trim nail gun, using about one nail per foot.
