List of Wedding Photography Shots
- Essential bride photos that should be taken before every wedding include a picture of the wedding dress, the bride looking out of a window, the bride descending stairs, the maid of honor and mother of the bride zipping the wedding dress, and the bride putting on makeup. After dressing room shots, the photographer should get pictures of the bride with both the bridesmaid and of the mother of the bride. There should also be a photo of the bride with the father and one with the grandparents if possible.
- Groom photos that should be taken before the wedding ceremony include the groom fixing his hair, the best man and the groom's father pinning the boutonniere to his suit, and the groom with his father and the father of the bride. The groom should also have a photo with both of his parents, with just his mother, and with him in front of the limousine.
- The wedding photographer should make sure to get a picture of the groom waiting at the altar along with a wide-angle shot of the church. The bride should also be captured walking down the aisle as well as being handed to the groom by her father. As the bride approaches the groom, it is advisable to capture a photo of the bride over the shoulder of the groom. Keep the bride in focus, and have the groom softly occupying the foreground of the frame. Get a shot of the bride and groom holding hands as well as kissing. Finish the ceremony shots by capturing the bride and groom leaving the church and sitting down inside of the limousine, if possible.
- Before guests arrive, get a shot of the inside and outside of the reception hall. Photograph the food, cocktails and tables. As guests enter, photograph them and do your best to keep track of who you have taken pictures of so that you do not waste any time photographing everybody. Once the bride and groom arrive, take their portraits outside. Do several combo shots with and without each family. Finish the portraits with the groom posing with the groomsmen and the bride posing with the bridesmaids. Be sure to capture pictures of the wedding rings together. Once the reception starts, do not miss photographing the first dance, as well as the bride and father dancing.
- Other reception pictures that no wedding photographer should miss include the tossing of the bouquet, the guarder belt, the cutting of cake, and the bride and groom feeding each other cake. Dancing pictures, the bride and groom enjoying company, speeches, flowers, kids and the newlyweds driving away should all be captured.
