How to Determine the Dimensions of a Speaker Box

28
    • 1). Measure the depth and the width of the top of the speaker. Use these two distances for the length and width of the speaker box. For example, a speaker could have a depth of 10 inches and a width of 20 inches.

    • 2). Multiply the depth by the width to get at the surface area of the top of the speaker in square inches. The example speaker, then, has a top surface area of 200 square inches.

    • 3). Divide the manufacture's specified speaker box volume by the area to obtain the height of the speaker box in inches. In this example, if the specified volume is 2,500 cubic inches, the speaker box needs to have a height of 12.5 inches. Therefore, the speaker box should be 20 inches wide, 12.5 inches high and 10 inches deep.
