How to Start a GPS Tracking Business

11
    • 1). Examine the market and decide what type of GPS services you're going to offer. For instance, do you want to sell small, individual-sized GPS units, or do you want to focus on larger clients such as businesses with fleets of vehicles that need to be kept track of? Also, do you want to track the clients, or just sell them the software and products to do the tracking themselves? These are important decisions that help you shape your business before you start building it.

    • 2). Find a GPS service provider company that you want to partner with as a distributor. This gives you the ability to set your own policies and to conduct your business how you see fit, and it ensures that you have a supplier for the products you need and the support to make sure that you have the tools for your business to succeed.

    • 3). Get a business license and set up your physical location if you're going to have one. Once you've filled out the necessary forms and paid your licensing fee at your county or city courthouse (depending on where your business is located) you have the legal right to operate and act as a business. You can then sign a business contract with the GPS provider and begin selling GPS products and services to the public in person, through the Internet, or both.
