Three-Dimensional Christmas Tree Arts and Crafts
- One way to make a three-dimensional Christmas tree is to create a cone tree. Roll a piece of green paper into a cone. Staple the paper along the seam, tape or glue into place. Decorate the tree with glitter, stickers or markers to appear like a festive tree. Use different sized papers to create a variety of sized trees.
- A three-dimensional tree can be made using green card stock. Card stock is good to use because it's thicker and can withstand people bumping a table. Trace two identical Christmas tree outlines on green cardstock. Cut the shapes out and cut a slit up the middle of both. Slide the pieces together. Decorate the tree with marker or paint if desired.
- Create a three-dimensional tree that is also edible. Bake green cupcakes (use food dye to change the color or yellow or white cake mix) and take the baking papers off. Place five cupcakes on the bottom in a circle, three on the second layer and one on top. You can make a larger tree with additional cupcakes if desired. Decorate with thin frosting lines to represent garland or lights and dots of frosting or candy for ornaments.
- Clay can be made using common household items such as salt, cornstarch and water. Use green food dye to dye the clay. Wear gloves when dyeing to avoid staining them. Mold the substance into a tree, using as much clay as needed for the height that you desire. Before the tree dries completely, stick sequins and buttons into the clay to represent lights and ornaments. Allows a 48-hour drying period before moving.
