DIY Motion Duck Decoy

    • 1). Tie an 8-foot length of black string to the anchor rope on the bottom of your first decoy.

    • 2). Attach the anchor to the bottom of the first decoy. This will keep the three ducks in place as you tug on the string in the water.

    • 3). Connect the string from the first decoy to the anchor rope of the second decoy.

    • 4). Connect a second piece of 8-foot string to the third decoy, attaching it to the second one. This will give you a string of three decoys in a row, with the first decoy anchored in the water.

    • 5). Connect the last decoy to the full roll of string. You will tug on this long length of string from inside your duck blind, out of sight from the live ducks.

    • 6). Throw the three ducks into an open area within site of the duck blind. As the live ducks fly over head, gently tug on the string causing the decoys to create slight ripples in the water, appearing as if they are live ducks. This technique is best to use if the ducks are flying sideways or away from your blind, as it will keep them from noticing you or the string.
