The Types of Planes Flown by US Airways

    Airbus Series

      The six main US Airways Airbus aircraft include the 319, 320, A321, A330-300, A330-200 and the A350. The Airbus fleet is typically used for flights within the United States; however, the A330-300 is one of the prominent aircraft used to transport passengers to and from Europe. Amenities on board all Airbus aircraft include audio and video capabilities, power outlets, galleys, lavatories and closets.

      The A330-300, one of the larger Airbus planes features 293 seats that include 30 in the Envoy cabin and 263 in the economy cabin. The Envoy seats allow passengers to recline 165 degrees, whereas the economy seats are more restrictive.

      The Airbus 319 has 124 seats, the 320 has 150 seats and the A321 can hold 183 passengers. The Airbus A350 will be introduced to the public in 2014 and will provide seating for up to 330 passengers.

    Boeing Aircraft

      The US Airways Boeing fleet is generally the older model of aircrafts and includes the 737-300, 737-400, 757-200 and the 767-200ER.

      The Boeing 767-200ER is the largest plane in the US Airways fleet and can hold up to 204 passengers. Used mainly for long-haul international flights, the aircraft offers a variety of amenities that includes a fully functioning galley, audio and video capabilities, AC power outlets and services for infants. There are 18 seats in the Envoy cabin that can recline to 170 degrees or lay flat. The 186 coach seats are limited with their recline capabilities; however, provide 17 inches of width and 31 inches of leg room.

    De Hallivand Dash-8 Series

      US Airways offers express services to customers traveling to more remote areas. The De Hallivand Dash-8 series offers three aircraft that include the 100, 200 and 300. These aircrafts are equipped with twin-engines and are propelled by turboprops. Both the 100 and 200 series offer 37 seats, whereas the 300 series can hold up to 50 passengers.

      Aircraft seats on the De Hallivand Dash-8 series do not recline due to limited room. The seating areas measure approximately 17 inches wide by 31 inches deep. The aircraft also features a galley and lavatories; however is not equipped with video or audio capabilities.

    Embraer Series

      Embraer is an aircraft company that offers commercial airlines, executive jets and defense and agricultural aircraft to its customers around the world. US Airways is one of the company's 90 customers and flies the Embraer ERJ-145, 170, 175 and 190.

      The Embraer ERJ-145 has a maximum speed of mach 0.78 and can seat 50 passengers. Powered by two Rolls-Royce AE3007 Engines, passengers can enjoy the aircrafts larger windows that allow for a brighter atmosphere inside.

      The 170 can hold 76 passengers, where as the 175 can seat up to 86. For a flight that needs 99 seats, the Embraer 190 is run by two General Electric CF34-10E engines and provides passengers with more room that than of its counterparts.
