How to Use a Triangle Quilting Ruler
- 1). Wash and dry your fabric. This helps to avoid the shrinking of your quilt once you have completed it. Iron your fabric and lay it across a flat workspace.
- 2). Slip the cutting mat beneath the fabric. Lay the main quilting triangle ruler on top of the fabric. You will see horizontal lines across the triangle ruler, which is made of plastic. Each line represents a new measurement. For example, you might see a line with 1 inch, 3 inches, 4 inches or 5 inches. This indicates the width of the triangle.
- 3). Roll your rotary cutter across the top blunt tip of the triangle, down each of the sides and across the bottom. Repeat this with the other triangle ruler -- the side triangle. You will need two side triangles in the same width as your main triangle.
