How to Make a PS3 Case
- 1). Open the hard-shell road case and lay the PlayStation 3 on its side inside the case. Hard-shell road cases can be purchased at music supply stores as well as online retailers. They are often used to carry a band's audio equipment when touring.
- 2). Fit the 20-inch-by-13-inch-by-1-inch upholstery foam over the PlayStation 3.
- 3). Place any cables, controllers, or other peripherals onto the foam. Trace each piece with a black marker. Remove the accessories. Lift the foam out of the case and place it on your work surface.
- 4). Cut along the outlines of the accessories about halfway through the foam. Use your hands to tear out the foam shapes, creating custom indentations for each accessory. Place the foam back in the case and place the accessories into their proper indentations.
- 5). Close the hard case. A standard hard case will have clearance to hold the console and all accessories snugly.
- 1). Lay the 28-inch-by-16-inch, quilted, fabric rectangle on your work surface with one 16-inch edge closest to you.
- 2). Lay both the 18-inch-by-16-inch, quilted, fabric rectangles on top of the 28-inch-by-16-inch, quilted, fabric rectangle, aligning the bottom edges. Ten inches of the bottom layer should stick out above the top edges of the two 18-by-16-inch pieces to become the top flap that closes the case.
- 3). Sew the left, right and bottom edges of the three pieces of fabric together, sealing everything but the top edges where the extra 10 inches lies. Sew over the edges more than once for strength.
- 4). Fold the 72-inch-by-6-inch fabric twice lengthwise, creating a 72-inch-by-2-inch strap. Sew down the length on both sides to add stability and strength.
- 5). Sew the strap to the case in messenger-bag style. Attach one end of the strap to the center-bottom edge of the carrying case, stitching it in place along the bottom and up one side. Loop the other end of the strap around the bag and attach it to the center-bottom edge of the carrying case so it touches the first strap end. Sew the second strap end along the bottom of the case and up the other side.
- 6). Lift the 10-inch flap and sew the hook side of the hook-and-loop strip to the inside bottom edge of the flap. Sew the loop side of the hook-and-loop strip to the front of the bag where the flap hangs.
- 7). Stand the bag on its bottom edge and slip the PlayStation 3 between the back and the middle quilted layers. Slip cables and other accessories between the middle and the front quilted layer.
- 8). Fold the top flap down over the front of the bag. Press the hook-and-loop strips together to seal the bag closed.
