Protein water is a healthy drink that uses whey protein. It can contain anywhere from five grams of protein to 30 grams or more. You can purchase pre-made protein water drinks--often called protein shakes--in a variety of flavors, including vanilla, chocolate and strawberry banana. Alternatively, you can purchase whey protein powder and make your own drinks on the go. Whichever way you choose to drink it, protein water has many advantages. - The protein content of protein water is an obvious advantage. This helps you to get the protein that you need without a lot of additional calories, like you'd find in meat. Protein water typically has no fat and only a few carbohydrates to boost flavor. It's primarily made from protein, making it a good choice for dieters, vegetarians and body builders.
- Almost anyone can easily digest whey protein--you won't end up with a stomach ache or constipation. However, those with liver problems should consult with a doctor, as the liver may not be able to process the high amount of protein in protein water.
- You can purchase whey protein in most supermarkets and health food stores. If you're on the run, you can often pick up a pre-made protein shake at a convenience store. This makes it a good choice when you find yourself hungry without any snacks on hand.
- If you're making your own, add the protein powder to a glass of water and stir. Using a shaker or a blender can produce a smoother texture.
- Eating enough protein can help you feel satisfied longer. Instead of reaching for a candy bar, you can enjoy chocolate-flavored protein water. This will satisfy your sweet tooth while still giving you nutrition.
- Many people don't like the taste of water, so they simply don't drink it. This can lead to dehydration. Because protein water is flavored, it makes it easier to drink water.
