How to Store Cutting Tools
- 1). Place saw blades, drill bits and replaceable cutting tools, such as blades for a retractable knife, into the storage cases that are included with these tools. Saw blade and drill bit cases are typically compartmentalized to organize the cutting tools based on size.
- 2). Place high-speed cutting tools, such as carbide bits, in separate storage containers so that they cannot knock around together in a box. The high speed at which these cutting tools operate can make them brittle, so dropping them into a storage box with other drill bits can damage or break them.
- 3). Install hooks on a pegboard behind your work table to create custom storage for larger, hand-held cutting tools such as hacksaws and knives. Organize the tools on the pegboard so that the tools you use most frequently are within easy reach. Less frequently used tools can be stored farther away from your main workspace on the pegboard.
- 4). Store outdoor cutting tools in moisture-proof containers to prevent corrosion and rusting.
