5 Policies For Successful Weight Loss Resolutions

10
Losing that holiday weight need not be such a terrible chore.
With the New Year as something of a motivator (we all have those great Near Year's Resolutions), we can easily focus on losing weight.
Whether we stick to our resolution and plan is another matter.
By incorporating these five weight loss policies, we easily succeed in dropping the ten, fifteen, twenty or more pounds we have resolved to lose! 1.
Don't just plan for a single goal; plan incrementally.
For example, "I plan to lose twenty pounds by May 1, or five pounds every month.
" By setting up incremental goals, we are better able to stay motivated as the "number" is not so big, especially after a couple of successful months of meeting or exceeding our incremental goals.
2.
Take photos along the way.
We often have a photo of our "fat" selves and an image of our "skinny" selves.
But what about the intermediate progress? Take photos every other week and after a month or two, go back and review them.
Seeing the small week-to-week progress up against the larger start-to-now progress will keep us motivated to stick to our plan.
3.
Reward yourself regularly.
Allow a weekly or every-other-week reward day.
This can mean eating whatever you want for a single day while ignoring your diet and exercise routines, or it can mean spending a bit of money on "skinny" clothes.
Whatever you decide, just remember to reward yourself for a job well done; starting up for another week or month will give you something to look forward to...
the next reward day! 4.
Involve your friends and family.
Any goal in life is a lot easier and enjoyable when you involve the people with whom you are closest.
Even if it means just getting them "on side" with your diet or work out routine, get them involved! Not only will you feel you have to keep to your plan in order to make your friends and family proud, but they will be more likely to encourage you along your weight loss journey.
5.
Stay positive, even if you "fall off the wagon.
" It happens to the best of us.
We lose ten pounds or so and then revert to our old ways for a week or so.
No big deal; just get back on track and pick up where you left off.
The key to successful weight loss is sticking to your goal, adapting to your new environment, and staying healthy.
These five policies will form essential components to your weight loss efforts.
The best part is that if you incorporate them and make them part of your resolution, you will find that you will be much more likely to succeed in dropping all of the weight you want to lose.
