DIY Plaster Wall Repair
- 1). Cover the floor and furniture with plastic to protect them while the work is being done.
- 2). Scrape the damaged area of the wall lightly with a six-inch drywall knife to remove any loose plaster. Use a utility knife to cut out loose pieces of plaster that can not be removed by scraping. Remove any lathe that may be broken.
- 3). Spread joint compound into the damaged area of the wall using a six-inch drywall knife. Fill in the low areas of the damaged wall with the compound to make it even with the rest of the wall. Let the joint compound dry for 24 hours.
- 4). Sand the repaired area with a drywall sanding sponge. Lightly guide the sponge over the area to remove ridges and high areas.
- 5). Paint the repaired area with paint that matches the rest of the wall using a paint brush.
