Both these agencies have mentorship programs that provide accessibility to association members who can sponsor you during the home inspections needed for membership.

    • 2). Purchase the professional insurance policies required by Pennsylvania law for working home inspectors. Home inspectors must have general liability insurance coverage of $100,000 for each occurrence and $500,000 in the aggregate. They must carry error and omissions coverage of $100,000 for each occurrence and $500,000 in the aggregate.

    • 3). Pass the competence examination required by your chosen national home inspector association. Passing the exam is required to be granted full membership and have the legal right to work as an independent home inspector in Pennsylvania. Test-preparation materials and classes are available through your professional home inspector association.
