Bear Archery History & Products

    History

    • Bear Archery (beararcheryproducts.com) sells molded compression-limb bows, which are made with unbroken, uncut fibers. The unique design of the Bear Archery products is what makes the company so successful today. Fred Bear was born in Waynesboro, Pennsylvania, but he moved to Michigan to work in the automotive industry. After having some initial success in both the design and hand-making of bows and strings for a small group of enthusiasts, Bear won several archery competitions, which increased the value and worthiness of his product. After being featured in various documentaries and outdoors magazines, Bear Archery became an instant hit. Eventually Fred Bear moved his company to northern Michigan, but he kept traveling and kept his company in the public eye through making films of his adventures. He died in 1988, but his love and passion for archery is still what drives Bear Archery.

    Product Overview

    • The products at Bear Archery are "all about the hunt." Numerous products are available to the public, and are offered in four categories: compound bows, traditional bows, youth bows and institutional equipment. Bear Archery bows and accessories can be purchased at authorized dealers throughout the U.S. and internationally.

    Compound Bows

    • A compound bow is one that uses some sort of leveraging system that increases the speed and accuracy of the arrow. Bear offers eight compound bows, ranging from the lowest speed of 265 using the Apprentice model, to a high of 345, using the Carnage model. The lightest bow is also the Apprentice at 2.9 pounds and the heaviest the Carnage at 4 pounds.

    Traditional Bows

    • Eleven traditional bows (without additional leverage) are available from Bear Archery. Each bow offers something different in terms of size and finish. The offered models of the traditional bows are the Kodiak Magnum, Super Kodiak, Takedown, Grizzly, Super Grizzly, Supermag 48, Cheyenne, Patriot, Montana, Ausable and Kodiak Cub.

    Youth Bows

    • Bear offers 13 youth box sets, most including arrows. The youth bows are specifically designed to assist in the development of strong archery skills in children. For the younger kids, Bear also offers several toy archery sets.

    Institutional Equipment

    • A variety of targets, archery carts, shooting tabs, arm guards, bowstrings, single-seam gloves, targets and target stands are available for purchase from Bear.
