Does jet lag concern you? You might wonder what will work to prevent it and spend a great deal of time trying to find the remedy. Let's forget about finding a remedy and focus on what won't work at all. Though it might be beneficial to get a list of methods that work, but perhaps you have bad habits to break first.

Start by saying no when offered beer, wine or liquor on your flight. Drinking alcohol is probably the worst thing to do, though you might think it will relax you and prevent jet lag. Since it dehydrates you, there is a good chance alcohol will increase you symptoms of jet lag. And a hangover on top of jet lag would be a bad thing. However, if it is an absolute must for you to drink in order to ease your nerves, make sure you limit yourself to only one beverage and drink lots of water afterwards.

Caffeine is also something you'll need to avoid, meaning no coffee, soda or even tea. First, alcohol will interfere with your sleeping patterns. Disturbing your sleeping cycle is a bad idea since jet lag will already disturb your sleeping patterns. And like alcohol, caffeine will dehydrate you, which we already know is a bad idea. If you're going to drink caffeinated beverages on your traveling days, make sure to only do so in the morning, limit yourself to one or two drinks, and drink enough water to stay hydrated.

Napping will make your jet lag intensify, so it is best that you avoid doing so, even if it is the first thing on your mind when you get off your plane. Try to keep yourself awake while it is daylight outdoors. If you absolutely must take a snooze before you normally go to bed, use jet lag prevention
by waiting for the sun to go down and try to sleep through the night. Don't sleep in increments because sleeping through the night is best since daylight is a natural way to maintain your energy.

Stay away from junk food as well no matter how tempting it might be. After your flight, your body will be in an adaptation mode, and since that's how it is, you need to stick to a healthy diet and make sure you are drinking a lot of water. So avoid any soda, candy or fast food when you arrive at your destination. If you stay away from such foods, you body will have a lot easier time when it comes to adjusting to the new time zone.

Give some consideration to homeopathic methods to remedy jet lag such as special oral supplements or flu and sore throat prevention
nasal sprays. But also remember all of the above - the things to avoid. The bottom line is that by avoiding dehydration and making sure to eat healthy you will increase the odds of beating jet lag.
