Know the numbers to look for.

Look for 1/20 12k gf and 1/20 10k gf, sometimes run together as 1/2012kgf. This is a typical mark on gold-filled jewelry.

    • 3). Know the names to check closely.

Look for names like Krementz, one of the companies that made gold-filled jewelry in the 1950s and 1960s. Some Black Hills gold is gold filled, too. There is jewelry currently being imported that is gold filled, but it will not likely be available at a price for resale.

    • 4). Understand the terminology.

Gold filled jewelry is made with an alloy core and gold is layered over the core. It is made like vintage RGP or rolled gold plate, and is significantly more gold than gold-plated jewelry. It does not have a gold filling as the name implies, but instead is filled with brass or another metal.

Identify gold filled jewelry and sell it at a profit. Make money online or by selling to a local jewelry store.
