How to Use PowerDirector

    Capture

    • 1). Launch CyberLink's PowerDirector and then click on the "Capture" heading at the top of the program.

    • 2). Click on the icon, below the Capture heading, that corresponds to the audio/video source you'll be capturing from, such as "HDV Camcorder" or "Webcam."

    • 3). Click on the "Change Folder" button, located in the bottom of the program, to select a folder location to store your captured media files.

    • 4). Play your source device and then click on the red "Record" button to record in Power Director--press the button again when you want to stop recording.

    Edit

    • 1). Click on the "Edit" heading at the top of PowerDirector. Click on the folder icon in the top-left corner of the program to import media files for your project.

    • 2). Drag, drop and sort your media files in the timeline at the bottom of the program. You can drag the edges of the media files in the timeline to shorten or lengthen the duration of each file's play time.

    • 3). Use the column of tabs running down the the left side of the program to tweak your media sequence. You can use the Effects Room tab to add effects to your media files or the Title Room tab to add text overlays and fillers. To apply an item, simply drag it to the timeline.

    Produce

    • 1). Click on the "Produce" heading in PowerDirector.

    • 2). Select the tab under the Produce heading that corresponds to the type of medium for which you'd like to prep your media sequence. Select "File" for popular media file types, "Camcorder" for digital video and high-definition formats or the "YouTube" and "Facebook" tabs for social networking-compliant formats.

    • 3). Select the output format under the tab for your choice of medium. For example, you would choose from "DV," "HDV" and "HDD" if you selected the "Camcorder" tab.

    • 4). Click on the "..." button to select a output folder for your rendered project, and then click "Start" to begin rendering.
