How Do I Record From a DVD Player to a Laptop?
- 1). Plug in the USB video capture device into an open USB port on your laptop and allow the system to recognize it. Install any software that came with the device.
- 2). Plug in your DVD player and insert a DVD you want on your laptop. Plug the RCA cable into the "Output" on the DVD player and into the inputs on the USB video capturing device. Switch on the DVD player.
- 3). Open your video capturing software and select your new USB device from the "Input" menu in the application's "Preferences." Press "Record" in the capturing program and "Play" on the DVD player. Allow the DVD to play all the way through and press "Stop" on both devices.
- 4). Go to the file menu in the video capturing software and select "Save As." Choose the file format, such as WMV, AVI, MOV or MP4, and save the file to your system. Repeat Step 3 for multiple DVDs.
