Facts on Fishing

• Venice is a good place for fishing tarpon, tuna, marlin, redfish, trout, flounder and snapper. There are plenty of fish throughout the entire year, but the best time to fish for trout is between the months of May to October; for redfish, between August and October; and for Flounder, between October and November.
  
  

Considerations

• People who do not have their own boat or who are inexperienced saltwater fishermen might want to consider one of the fishing charters in Venice. Warning

• The disaster of Hurricane Katrina in 2005 and the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico in 2010 did have an impact on Louisiana offshore saltwater fishing. However, both disasters left most of the fish species untouched and safe. Before going to fish, ensure that Louisiana has no offshore saltwater fishing closure.
