How to Get Deranked in "Modern Warfare 2"
- 1). Acquire the 2,434,700 XP needed to reach Level 70, Commander. Note that it may take between 15 and 30 hours of game play to achieve Level 70. The game automatically awards XP for each kill or completed game objective; as you reach each level, MW2 automatically increases your rank.
- 2). Put your MW2 disc in your console and highlight and click on "Multiplayer." Log on to the PlayStation Network or Xbox Live, depending on which console you use.
- 3). Enter the Barracks menu by highlighting and clicking on "Barracks" in the main multiplayer menu. Highlight and click on "Prestige Mode" to bring up the Prestige Mode warning message. Highlight and click on "More Info." This message will alert you that you cannot reverse the de-ranking that occurs in Prestige Mode.
- 4). Read the Prestige Mode information panel. Note that de-ranking to Level 1 will remove all of the weapons, attachments, camo patterns, challenges and perks you have already unlocked by reaching Level 70. Highlight and click on "Continue."
- 5). Enter Prestige by highlighting and clicking on "Enter Prestige" in the "Last Warning" message panel. The game will automatically reset your XP to zero. You will retain all of your recorded kills and all of the emblems and titles you have unlocked, but otherwise, the de-ranking makes you start over at Level 1.
- 6). Repeat Steps 1 to 5 if you wish to de-rank again by using Prestige Mode. Note that MW2 contains 10 Prestige Levels; so you can complete this process nine times.
