    Fax Transmission Result Reads Error

    • 1). Resend the fax and see if the transmission result still reads "Error." Temporary static or noise interference can result in transmission errors, but the second transmission will transmit without incident if that is the case.

    • 2). Free some of the device's memory, since a full memory will also result in an error. Print any faxes stored on the device's memory first by pressing the "Menu" button on the control panel, then press the "2" key. Press the "5" key, then the "4" key, then press either "Black Start" or "Color Start" to print the faxes.

    • 3). Turn off the machine's fax storage option by pressing "Menu" on the control panel, then the "2" key. Press the "5" key and then the "2" key again and use the arrow keys to highlight "Off." Press the "Menu/Set" button then the "Stop/Exit" button. Press the "1" key to erase all of your stored faxes.

    • 4). Cancel any scheduled fax jobs to also free up memory. Press the "Menu" button, then press the "2" key and then the "6" key. This will bring up a list of pending fax jobs.

    • 5). Use the arrow keys to move through the list of jobs. Press the "1" key to cancel the job you have highlighted. When you are done, press the "Stop/Exit" button.

    Paper Jams

    • 1). Take out any paper in the paper trays that are not jammed to prevent the printer from feeding more paper. Pull any paper you can see out of the front of the printer, making sure to not pull too hard or fast that you tear the paper.

    • 2). Pull up on any stuck paper in the printer's input slot as you hold down the release lever on the top of the printer. Lift the paper tray out of its slot if you still cannot remove the paper, then pull the paper out to the side.

    • 3). Press the scanner cover's release lever, then lift up on the cover. Pull out any stuck paper you see inside the printer. For paper stuck under the print head, unplug the printer's power cord, then move the print head to access the stuck paper.

    • 4). Close the cover so you hear it latch. Replace the input tray and paper, then adjust the paper guides to the paper's margins.
