How to Make a Water Turtle Trap
- 1). Punch a hole near the bottom of a 2-liter soda bottle.
- 2). Pass one end of a rope through the hole and feed the rope through until the rope comes out the mouth of the bottle, and tie a knot in the rope small enough to fit through the mouth and back into the bottle, but too large to fit through the hole in the bottom of the bottle.
- 3). Cut the rope to a length that exceeds by a few feet the depth of the lake where you wish to set the trap. Tie a mesh bag to the end of the rope.
- 4). Cut a foot long piece of wire. To create a small fixed loop at one end of the wire, make a loose loop approximately 2 inches from an end and tighten the 2 inches of wire around the longer portion of wire to hold the loop in place.
- 5). Pass 3 inches of wire through the eye of the hook, and twist it around the body of the hook repeatedly to secure it in place.
- 6). Tie 2 feet of string to the loop in the wire and around the neck of the bottle.
- 7). Bait the hook and fill the bag with some rocks to serve as an anchor, then place the bottle in the water where you wish to set it.
