How to Drill Perspex
- 1). Set the sheet of Perspex on a flat surface so the area you will be drilling is hanging over the edge. Tighten the Perspex down on the table with a C-clamp. Position the C-clamp on the end farthest from where you will be cutting and tighten it down by hand.
- 2). Attach a metal drill bit of the desired diameter to a power drill. Mark on the Perspex with a black marker where you will be making the cut. Keep the plastic covering on the Perspex so it does not burn when you are drilling into it.
- 3). Line up the drill bit to the mark on the Perspex. Turn on the drill and press down firmly until the bit of the drill goes through the Perspex and comes out the other side.
- 4). Turn off the drill and pull the drill bit back out of the Perspex. Inspect the hole and verify the hole has been drilled completely through. Pull off the plastic from both sides of the Perspex and set it aside.
- 5). Sand down the hole you drilled with medium-grade sandpaper. Move the sandpaper back and forth over the entire surface until the edges where you drilled the hole are smooth and even throughout.
