Follow the 2006 ACC Champion Wake Forest Demon Deacons

After a down year, the Demon Deacons are looking to bounce back with a winning season, they lost their 4 year starting quarterback Riley Skinner the Jacksonville Florida native, who had led the Demon Deacons to their wonderful, surprising breakout season of 2006 when they played and defeated Georgia Tech in the ACC championship game.
It was their first ACC championship since 1970, a long dry spell, but it was a welcome and exciting finish for all long suffering Wake Forest fans who had never tasted a championship of any kind for their football team.
For their reward of that season the Demon Deacons played the Louisville Cardinals from the Big East in the Orange Bowl, though they had the lead in the 4th quarter 13-10 the Cardinals mounted a comeback to win 24-13 thus ending a great season for the Demon Deacons.
With an 11-3 record in the 2006 season, it created excitement and anticipation not only for the next season but a few down the road such as this year the 2010 season with coach Jim Grobe.
This season for the Black and Gold should be a solid rebounding season after winning the ACC championship in 06 and having winning seasons the next two years only to stumble late in last years run, Wake Forest under Jim Grobe has had unmeasured success from previous tenures of other Black and Gold teams and coaches.
An interesting note, a previous head coach at Wake Forest was last years Super Bowl coach of the Indy Colts, Jim Caldwell, he coached at Wake from 1993-2000 and led the 1999 team to a victory in the Aloha Bowl over Arizona State 23-3.
Till Caldwell and Jim Grobe came to the Black and Gold, Wake had very little success on the football field, it has been a long time coming but those two men put Wake back on the college football relevancy.
So get your tickets ready for the upcoming season and all you tailgaters who come and set up before the games, which is half the fun of going to these outstanding college games across our great nation, food, fun, fellowship, for friend and foe, nothing like a good tailgating happening surrounding the college campuses before the games kickoff.
I'm sure Coach Grobe should have the players and the willing attitude to turn Wake Forest back to its winning ways for the 2010 season.
