Keeping My Hair Healthy - With Oil?

I happen to love my hair.
It is thick, soft and really fun to run your hands through.
In fact, many people say it is one of my best features.
So you probably won't be surprised to learn that I was nearly panic-stricken when I found out that my hair was falling out.
Okay, to be fair, it was not falling out.
It was breaking off.
And frankly, that was lucky for me, because it meant that I had damage rather than a serious health problem.
However, before I figured out that what I had actually done to create this problem was to bleach my hair a fabulous platinum blond, I did some pretty serious research into causes for hair loss, and one of the things I learned has brought my hair back better than ever before.
The first thing I did when I saw all that hair in my brush was to call a dietitian.
One of the primary causes of female hair loss is malnutrition, so I wanted to make sure that I was taking good care of my health.
I thought that I was a pretty healthy eater, but once she examined my food journal (a diary of what I ate that I had to keep for a week before going in for my appointment), the dietitian informed me that I probably had an omega 3 fatty acid deficiency.
She recommended that I take a daily dose of omega 3 salmon oil to keep my heart strong, my immune system hearty and my memory in good shape.
Now, as I've said, it turned out that my hair issue had more to do with over-processing than anything else.
However, I sure am glad I did not know that before I went to the dietitian, because ever since I started taking omega 3 salmon oil, my hair has been stronger and shinier, and it even seems to be growing in faster - which is pretty important right now.
In fact, I'm almost tempted to dye it blond again...
