Baby Shower Games for a Baby That Is Already Here

    Guess-the-Baby-Gifts Bingo

Give your guests a blank card with squares, similar to a Bingo card, plus a pencil to write with. Print a photo of the baby-of-honor, or the child's name, in the center. Everyone will get credit, to start with, for that center square. Give your guests five minutes to fill in each of the other squares with what they think the family will receive as baby gifts. Onesies, booties, diapers, diaper pins, baby rattle, baby shampoo, high chair, playpen, burp cloths, and other items can be written in as possibilities.

As the mother opens her gifts, guests should put a line through the item on their game cards, if they had it written down. The first person to get a straight, or diagonal, line of crossed-out items calls out "Bingo" and is a winner. Give her a prize from a basket of pre-wrapped gifts or let winners choose from unwrapped items. Be prepared for several winners before all of the gifts are unwrapped.

    Baby Picture Guessing Game

Make a poster of baby pictures using photos of the mother, father, new baby, siblings, grandmothers, grandfathers, aunts and uncles, and so forth. Invite guests to contribute copies of their own baby pictures in advance of the baby shower. Number each picture on the poster. When your guests arrive, give each one a card with the names of those who are depicted on the poster, in random order. Have the guests write a number by each name indicating which photo they think is that person's baby picture. The guest with the most correct answers wins a prize.

    Name the Price

In the vein of the famous game show "The Price is Right," have a retail-price guessing game. Put a number of baby items out on a table, such as baby wipes, lotion, box of disposable diapers, rubber ducky, baby rattle, and so forth. Give your guests a list with the items on it, possibly adding where they were purchased. Have guests write down their best guess of what each item costs.

First, have each person give her best guess for each item. Then, with fanfare, announce the true price and place a card in front of the item with the price. The person(s) with the exact amount correct gets 3 points. Those who come within 10 cents get 2 points. Between 11 to 50 cents difference earns one point and other estimates get no points. Each person tallies their point on their list. The person with the most points wins.

    Artful Burp Cloth Activity

This activity can be done as a craft project or may be presented as a competition. Purchase inexpensive white muslin diapers, paint brushes, child-like ink stamps and bright-colored permanent paint. The burp cloths must be made with washable and nontoxic paint supplies. Give your guests time to visit the "art table" to create a burp cloth for the baby to use. Using laundry pins, hang them on a clothesline strung across the room. If you are doing it as a contest, have your guests vote on the "prettiest," "most original," and "cutest." Give each winner a simple prize.
