How to Get Sales Tax Exempt in Oklahoma
- 1). Visit Oklahoma Tax Commission online or at either their Tulsa or Oklahoma City office to acquire Form 13-16-A for Sales Tax Exemption.
- 2). Fill out the form complete with the physical and mailing address of the exempt organization. The Social Security number of the authorized personnel completing the form is required.
- 3). Attach any requested forms. Depending on the type of organization applying, the Commission may require a copy of the IRS letter proving exemption, articles of incorporation, by-laws, or financial statements.
- 4). Return the completed form and attachments to the Taxpayer Assistance Division of the Commission. As of 2010, no filing fee is required for sales tax exemption. The Commission will assign a state specific tax identification number and card for those approved.
