Bali boasts not only pristine beaches but natural attractions, too.
As such, many tourists come and stay in one of the many accommodations in Bali every year.
These visitors come from all over the globe to experience the tropical climate, exquisite scenery, and fine white-sand beaches.
Aside from these things, people frequent this summer hotspot because of its famous waters that are perfect for extreme sports like surfing.
Many professional, amateur, and even casual surfers travel great lengths to ride the waves of this amazing Southeast Asian destination.
If you're here to surf, here are 5 of the best places to surf in Bali.
Kuta Reef Surfers call it an 'epic' surfing spot, it means there are extreme 'swells' that refer to solid, real waves.
In this area, those swells can reach up to 5 feet during high tides.
May people choose this spot because its central location makes it easy to reach.
It is located about 800 meters off the shores of Kuta Beach, within proximity to many hotels in Bali.
The best way to get here is by hiring a local boatman to take and pick you up afterward.
Medewi This spot is perfect for both dry and wet seasons.
The best time to surf in Medewi is during early mornings, when the wind direction is coming from the south.
The waves here reach up to 6 feet.
You can meet many local surfers here.
To get here, drive northwest from Kuta for 2 hours, then head towards Tabanan and keep following the main road.
Balangan This spot has waves that go up as high as 8 feet.
The easterly winds give surfers solid swell on the south-side take off point of the reef.
It used to be hard for surfers to reach this place because there are no major roads in the area, but now because of the improved highways, it has become a pretty popular spot especially during the months of April and October.
Bingin Bingin is more enjoyable during the dry months, where you can be treated to snappers or short waves that go up 3 to 5 feet high.
It attracts many tourists during peak seasons, especially beginner and intermediate surfers.
Bingin is right next to Balangan but is closer to the shore.
A few minutes of paddling will get you to the take-off area.
Canggu There are the 3 main waves that break over the sandy sea bed of Canggu.
It is a good spot on dry months when the northeast winds kick in during the daytime, and during the wet seasons when the waves reach 3 to 5 feet high.
This reef is recommended for experienced body boarders.
Canggu is only a 20-minute drive from Kuta in Bali.
