Angels & Airwaves" I-Empire Album Review
I-Empire is the second album released by the alternative rock band, Angels & Airwaves.
The band's founder is former Blink 182 front man Tom DeLonge so one can expect the same kind of sounds from this punk rock band.
But Angels & Airwaves music was a revelation for the former Blink 182 member.
It's like you are hearing Tom sing for the very first time.
The band's first album was officially released globally in 2007 through their official website.
If the first album We Don't Need to Whisper is all about rebirth, the second one, I-Empire tackles on what to do after a re-birth (which is quite logical).
There were high hopes for this second record, even from Tom himself.
He said in an interview that I-Empire is "as exciting as rock 'n roll gets.
" It did do well in sales.
The album debuted at the Number 9 position in the U.
S.
Billboard 200 chart.
It sold 66,000 copies on its first week of release, and has now sold 500,000 worldwide.
The album is consisted of twelve tracks that are sometimes reminiscent of U2's guitar riffs.
The band really did well in making the record sound excellent.
Angels & Airwaves have proven, through this album that they are capable musicians.
That they can come up with fantastic tight sounds.
It was also said that a big kudos need to go to their bassist Matt Wachter (former 30 Seconds to Mars member) for making excellent work on tracks such as Everything's Magic-which emerged as the album's highlight.
The first track, Call to Arms, features an impressive introduction.
It extends before it gives way to an unforgettable nostalgic chorus.
Critics claim it is a good starting point for the album.
But going through all the other songs, it feels like listening to the same music over and over again.
Most of the songs have the same slow-paced build up and then gives way to the nerve racking guitar playing of David Kennedy.
Despite the seemingly monotonous melody and arrangement for all of the songs, you can still consider the album as something worth listening to.
It helped that Tom contributed a lot of his songwriting skills to come up with wonderful lyrics to the record.
Every rock aficionado will have to hear Angels & Airwaves' music because it truly is, despite some shortcomings in the melodic area, one of the best records you will have heard in the most recent history.
