How to Make Spiked Weave Poles
- 1). Select straight dowels. At the lumberyard or hardware store, select 12 straight dowels --- no warps or bends. You should also choose dowels without cracks or any obvious splinters.
- 2). Carve the spike. With a sharp jacknife, penknife or other woodworking knife, carve the bottom 6 inches of each dowel into a sharp point.
- 3). Tape the poles. In agility competition, weave poles are placed 20 inches apart. Wrap one band of electric tape every 4 inches around each pole so you can place them correctly in your backyard when you're ready to practice this obstacle with your dog.
