Michel Thomas Spanish Michel Thomas is an audio based program whose basic principle is to give you a word, then another word, and then another word and suddenly you are building sentences by yourself.
It's a interesting concept and is very good for beginners trying to learn Spanish by themselves.
Drawbacks are that Michel Thomas was not a native Spanish speaker, which means that whatever inconsistencies are in his speech, you will pick up too.
Still I would recommend it.

Pimsleur Spanish Pimsleur Spanish is a great way to learn Spanish for beginners, starting off very slowly and building a very strong vocab base for you to work with.
It's another audio based program, and it repeats a lot of material for re-enforcement, which some people may find a little slow.
However, I don't think you will EVER forget what Pimsleur teaches you, so if you can take the hit to your wallet ($800ish) I'd recommend it.

Rocket Spanish Rocket Spanish combines audio and reading/writing, plus some challenging and interesting Spanish games that increase your vocabulary and the speed with which you recall words (helpful for when your speaking Spanish with somebody, then you don't have to stand there saying, "uhhhhhhhhh" trying to recall a word).
Overall I'd say that it's the most well rounded course, as the two above focus almost completely on audio.
It's also the most reasonably priced, at a little under $100.
