How to Find a Lost Friend or Relative

36
    • 1). Search online obituaries where you can research death notices and records. Obituaries often list names of surviving family members, making it easy to confirm the identity of the located person. Legacy.com offers access to obituaries from many newspapers in the United States and Canada.

    • 2). Search high school and college alumni associations if you know the name of the school the person attended. If an alumni association won't give you contact information, many will forward a letter from you to the person you're looking for.

    • 3). Register with social networking websites like Facebook, Classmates.com, or Reunion.com to reconnect with long-lost friends and family members.

    • 4). Search trade associations or state websites (if you know what industry a person was in or likely went into) to find the person you're looking for.

    • 5). Search for the person on anywho.com, an online telephone directory. You can also try searching for the person on whitepages.com

    • 6). Submit a letter to the Internal Revenue Service letter-forwarding program. If you know the Social Security number for the person you are trying to find, the government will attempt to forward your letter to the missing person.
