Gazelle Hunting in Texas
- The TPWD drawing offers two winners each year an opportunity to hunt exotic African game at the Mason Mountain Wildlife Management Area. It is located in the Llano Uplift in Mason, Texas. Hunters are permitted to take a companion with them. Lodging, food and taxidermy service is provided.
- According to a 2007 article in Texas Parks and Wildlife Magazine, the 40,000-acre YO Ranch features over 50 exotic species (referred to as Texotics), including dama gazelle. The article noted that YO Ranch, near Kerrville, Texas was one of more than 5,000 exotic ranches at that time.
- The TPWD requires a valid hunting license for all hunting, including exotic animals. Hunting in wildlife management areas, such as Mason Mountain, requires a special permit.
