How to Use HDMI Connections for Regular TVs
- 1). Inspect your television to look for unused device connection ports.
- 2). Purchase an HDMI conversion unit that is compatible with your television. The common three-plug yellow, white and red connectors are called "RCA" connectors, while a circular black plug that resembles the PS/2 computer connection is called "S-video." Round single-holed connectors with a metal protrusion that cable wires typically screw into are called "composite" connections. Some converter boxes support all three, but at minimum it must support your television.
- 3). Insert the power adapter for the unit into the back of the device and connect it to a wall outlet.
- 4). Connect the HDMI cable from your video output device to the HDMI input port on the conversion box.
- 5). Connect the S-video, RCA or composite wire from the appropriate "output" connector on the conversion box and then connect it to your television set.
- 6). Securely mount or set the conversion box somewhere where it will not be knocked over or damaged.
- 7). Power on the unit if it contains an "on/off" switch.
- 8). Change the television's input source or channel to the port you have connected. If you are unsure which input source this is, try cycling through available sources or consulting your manual.
