How to Spike Medium Hair
- 1). Flip over your head so that your wet hair is dangling in front of your forehead. Comb through any tangles.
- 2). Separate your hair into several small ponytails the same thickness as you want your spikes. Each ponytail will represent one spike.
- 3). Remove the hair elastic from one of the ponytails on one side of your head.
- 4). Squeeze a generous amount of extra-strength hair gel or spiking glue into your palm and rub your hands together.
- 5). Distribute the product evenly through the section of hair from root to tip.
- 6). Holding your head upside-down, blow-dry the section of hair straight up, holding the end straight and taut with your other hand. While drying, twist the end of the section with your fingers to create a pointed spike. Do this until the piece is completely dry.
- 7). Repeat Steps 3 through 6 for each ponytail. If the other ponytails start to dry, simply dampen them with water before applying the spiking product.
- 8). Hairspray your hair with your head upside-down. Allow the hairspray to dry completely, then raise your head slowly. Hairspray as necessary to hold the spikes in place.
