The Value of Lockpicking in World of Warcraft

7
There are not many classes in World of Warcraft that offer the kind of immediate and generally useful skills and abilities that a Rogue does.
While many character classes are perfect additions to any team, Rogue's offer certain skills that can prove useful in almost all situations and even in a few places where you wouldn't think to need them.
Lockpicking is one of those abilities that, when mastered, offers the kind of incredibly useful skill that you can only pick up in rare other circumstances.
Aspiring rogues should immediately look to lockpicking as a means to build their arsenal of useful skills.
While you can start lockpicking early, it's important to put the necessary time and devotion into it if you want to become a master eventually.
Blacksmiths are able to pick locks as well technically.
Unfortunately for them, it takes a lot more work and time than a Rogue.
A blacksmith must craft a key and that can only be done with metals like Truesilver, an incredibly rare item that doesn't always help for opening certain boxes.
If it is a Mithral or Thorium lockbox, only a rogue has the necessary skill to unlock and access the contents.
Rogues don't need keys, only the time and devotion of you to level up their abilities.
There are numerous doors throughout the game that are locked and need to be opened via special means.
You'll need keys for these, keys that Blacksmiths charge a decent amount for or are forced to pay large amounts to make themselves.
Rogues with the right skills can open the doors of the Searing Gorge, Scarlet Monestary, Blackrock Depths, and Scholomance without a key.
When you first start, your original quest should bring you to Alter's Mill where you can practice lock picking and eventually receive a Certificate of Thievery that gets you going along the path of lock picking and opening all of those amazing doors.
There are numerous locks in the game that are color coded to inform you what skills or keys you'll need to open them.
The skill levels attached to these locks are listed below: Red - You haven't leveled up enough yet to pick this lock.
Orange - You will level up when you pick this lock Yellow - You have a good chance of leveling up Green - You have a low chance of leveling up Grey - No chance at all of leveling up For both Alliance and Horde Rogues out there lock picking is an essential skill that will take you far and unlock various hidden treasures and gold in the game.
If you level it up early and practice often, you can reach level 300 and take advantage of the features such skill have to offer.
