How to Change Your EIN Information
- 1). Write a letter on company letterhead, if available. Include your company's complete name, EIN and current address at the top of the letter.
- 2). Indicate the name of the current principal officer, general partner, grantor, owner or trustor. Also include this person's Social Security number or Individual Taxpayer Identification Number.
- 3). Explain the changes to your information in the body of the letter.
- 4). Mail the letter to Internal Revenue Service, Stop 343G, Cincinnati, OH, 45999, if your business address is in Connecticut, Delaware, District of Columbia, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Vermont, Virginia, West Virginia or Wisconsin. You also can fax the letter to 859-669-5748.
- 5). Mail the letter to Internal Revenue Service, M/S 6273, Ogden, UT, 84201, if your business is in Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Washington, Wyoming, or any place outside of the United States. You also can fax the letter to 801-620-7116.
- 6). Wait 60 days to receive a confirmation in the mail. If you do not receive a confirmation, fax another copy of the letter with "Second Request" written across the top.
