Identification

• A leecher is a person using a torrent file to download a larger file, while employing peer-to-peer software known as BitTorrent. Leechers do not yet have the complete file, only part of it.
  
  

Function

• Once a file is completely downloaded, leechers then become seeders. The more people who seed a file, the faster the download becomes for all other leechers.
  
  

Warning

• Only download torrent files that contain freeware and public domain material. Although some people use torrents to illegally download music and films, if you are caught violating someone's copyright you can face a large penalty or jail time.
